Indian Map Rivers

The Ganges, Yamuna (a tributary of the Ganges), Brahmaputra, Mahanadi, Narmada, Godavari, Tapi, Krishna, and Kaveri are India’s nine major rivers.

The Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery, Mahanadi, and other large east-flowing rivers comprise the Godavari, Krishna, Cauvery, Mahanadi, and others. The Narmada and Tapti rivers flow westward. The Godavari River in India’s southern peninsula has the second largest river delta, occupying 10% of the country’s total territory.

India’s rivers play an important part in the lives of its people. Irrigation, potable water, low-cost transportation, and power are all provided by river systems, which often provide livelihoods for a vast number of citizens throughout the world. This explains why almost all of India’s big cities are situated along riverbanks. The rivers are also worshipped by all Hindus in the country and play an important part in Hindu mythology.

The Pir Panjal Range, which ranges from east-southeast to west-northwest, is the largest range in the lower Himalayas. Banihal Pass, Sinthal Pass, Rohtang La, Munawar Pass, and Haji Pir Pass are all part of the Pir Panjal Pass, which is situated west of Srinagar.

The Ladakh Range stretches from Leh’s northern outskirts to the Tibetan border. It is made up of two passes: Digar La Pass and Khardung La Pass. The Ladakh mountain chain, which is part of the Karakoram mountain range, has a harsh atmosphere. The region’s main town, Leh, is renowned for being a trading center for fine pashmina yarn.

Zanskar Region: This range stretches from Kashmir’s south-eastern borders to Baltistan’s eastern border. This range’s passes include Singge La Pass, Runrang La Pass, Fotu (Fatu) La Pass, Marbal Pass, and Zoji La Pass.

The Dhauladhar Range grows from India’s plains to the north of Mandi and Kangra. The highest point is Hanuman ji Ka Tiba, also known as the “White Mountain.”

The East Karakoram Region divides India from Central Asia and is one of Asia’s main mountain ranges. It is home to K2, the world’s second-highest peak.
